UN Encourages Inclusive Dialogue with Somalia

A senior UN official addresses South West State concerns in Baidoa and emphasises the value of communication in addressing national goals. The senior UN official in Somalia visited South West State today and discussed various local concerns with the leadership of the Federal Member State. He also reiterated the need of having a conversation about the country’s numerous national problems.
James Swan, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Somalia, stated that the country’s national issues include preparations for elections and security concerns. He also emphasised the significance of unity and inclusive communication among Somalia’s political and community leaders.
And I restated the stance of Somalia’s foreign allies: we applaud the move made by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in his Eid-al-Fitr address to set up a forum that unites all Somali voices in order to promote the nation’s state-building objectives and effectively combat the Al-Shabaab threat,” he added.
Following a meeting with South West State President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed “Laftagareen” and his administration at the Federal Member State’s State House, the UN Special Representative delivered the remarks during a joint news conference with him.
