USA: Trump’s Birthright Citizenship order is Temporarily Blocked by a Federal Judge

Donald Trump’s executive order to redefine birthright citizenship has been temporarily stopped by a federal judge who found that the proposal blatantly violates the US Constitution.

The ruling was made at the initial hearing of a lawsuit against the order that was filed by multiple states. The plaintiffs said that the executive order was unconstitutional, and Judge John Coughenour, who was overseeing the case, agreed.

Washington State Attorney General Nick Brown said he was pleased with the decision. “We are here at the courthouse today to defend the Constitution of the United States, to defend American democracy, and to defend the American way of life,” he stated. In addition, Brown expressed his satisfaction that the court acknowledged the gravity and urgency of the states of Washington, Oregon, Arizona, and Illinois’ objections and requests for a temporary injunction.

Brown called the order “unconstitutional and un-American,” and he praised the judge’s decision to prevent the U.S. government from implementing it. The purpose of the temporary order is to keep birthright citizenship in the US from being abolished.
