Israeli Attack on a Designated Safe Zone in Gaza Results in at Least 40 Deaths

Tuesday’s Israeli attack on a packed area in Gaza designated as a humanitarian safe haven for displaced Palestinians claimed the lives of over forty persons.

According to reports, in the wee hours of the morning, at least four missiles struck the Al-Mawasi tent camp near Khan Younis.

Tents were set on fire, leaving many holes up to nine meters deep, and at least sixty other people were wounded in the incident.

According to Israel, it took aim at a “significant” number of Hamas fighters that were allegedly active in the region.

The group refers to Israeli claims that there were gunmen at the coastal strip as a “blatant lie” and has refuted them.

Neither Israel nor Hamas offered proof to support their assertions.

This year, there have been several devastating Israeli attacks on the Al-Mawasi region, which according to relief organizations is currently home to over 380,000 people.

Teams tasked with civil defense are still looking for victims who might be buried beneath the sand. It claimed that whole families perished inside their tents.

After being forced to flee the southern city of Rafah, Attaf al-Shaar claimed that the strike occurred shortly after midnight and resulted in a fire.
