As the New Year begins, Gazans Express Hope for Peace

The residents of Gaza celebrated the arrival of 2025 with prayers and aspirations for an end to the ceaseless fighting that has engulfed the area for more than a year. Many people in the war-torn region look forward to the new year with fervent hopes for security, peace, and the end of the siege.

On Christmas Eve, displaced Christians gathered solemnly at the Church of Saint Porphyrius in Gaza City. They prayed for an end to the carnage that has upended their lives while surrounded by war’s ruins. The majority of us are Christians who have been uprooted. We are waiting for the wonderful news that the attack against us will stop, and we hope the war will cease.

Over 45,500 people have died and over 108,300 have been injured in the conflict, with women and children bearing a disproportionate amount of the damage. The catastrophe has displaced the bulk of Gaza’s population, and many have been forced to seek safety in tents or temporary shelters.

A volunteer nurse named Reham Awad talked about the difficulties that medical personnel in the besieged area confront on a daily basis. In order to put an end to the daily massacres and kid injuries, my main priority is for the war to cease,” she stated.

Awad further emphasized how urgently a centralized medical center is needed to care for the injured effectively. My second wish is for medical equipment to be in one place so that we can treat more patients without moving.
