In Response to the Increased Deadline, France Quickly withdraws its Troops from Chad

France was taken by surprise by the scenario. It was getting ready to remove its ground forces from Chad the following week. The authorities then sent a message to Paris on Friday, requesting that all troops leave its installation in N’Djamena by December 31.

France has suffered yet another setback. The final bastion of French dominance in West Africa’s Sahel was Chad. According to insiders, talks were in progress for a phased pullout that would conclude in March, although Paris was scheduled to start repatriating its troops on Tuesday.

Following the brutal attack, the authorities blamed France, in particular, for its failure to give information and support. N’Djamena was not pleased with Paris’s lack of assistance and insisted that French troops leave Chad, breaking the defence pact.

Following this, a number of protests demanding the withdrawal of the French army took place in towns all around the nation. Concerns about who N’Djamena would turn to next and the implications for the region are raised by the termination of the Chad-France defense treaty.
