South Sudan: As War Continues, Hospitals are Overburdened
As the conflict in South Sudan continues, the Aboko Teaching Hospital is one of several that are overburdened. It just has one surgeon, and there aren’t many fundamental resources available. Numerous patients are receiving treatment for gunshot wounds.
According to an unnamed injured sufferer, “the civilians were the target of the regime guard. Therefore, we are not soldiers since we are civilians. As a result, even I am not proficient with a gun. All I am is a civilian. I recently returned from Kenya. I simply visit the relatives there. We simply participate in the festivities (went to a ceremony). A day after the celebration, the incident (attack) took place.
Regarding his patients, Akobo Hospital’s head nurse, Nhial Bih, stated, “They came with different reasons.” A few of them joined the front. The South Sudanese government blasted some. A total of four patients were present at their residence. The South Sudanese government bombarded them. Additionally, some of them chose not to serve on the front lines. The government (forces) arrived at their home and shot the mother and those sons.
