SA Police Apprehend a Fugitive From the UK Who is Suspected of Killing his Wife and Two Daughters

After tracking him to Johannesburg, South African police detained a man wanted by British authorities on suspicion of killing his wife and two small girls in England, police said on Friday. An intelligence-led operation involving Interpol and South African police agencies resulted in the arrest of Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, a British citizen of Zimbabwean descent, in the Johannesburg suburb of Kensington.

In relation to the killings of his wife, Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, 42, and his daughters, Natalie, 15, and Nala, 5, British officials had been searching for Tshuma. The family’s house at Bedford, north of London, is where their bodies were found.

According to Lt. Gen. Puleng Dimpane, Acting National Police Commissioner, the arrest demonstrated South Africa’s collaboration with foreign law enforcement organizations in the pursuit of fugitives.

“This arrest shows that South Africa is not a safe haven for fugitives,” Dimpane stated. “The South African Police Service will work tirelessly with international law enforcement partners to trace, locate, and arrest anyone who believes they can evade justice by fleeing to our country.
