Pretoria and Russia have tight links as members of the BRICS group of rising economies that are attempting to subvert the Western-dominated economic order. Furthermore, South Africa has not denounced Putin’s invasion of Ukraine three years ago.
After his dramatic meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House last week, Zelenskyy is visiting the nation at a pivotal point in the battle. After Washington cut off all military aid and information sharing to Ukraine, he is working to bolster international support for his nation.
