In the midst of an Israeli bombardment campaign on Lebanon, Barrot, who arrived in the country’s capital on Sunday, September 29, hopes to expand humanitarian aid and pave the path for diplomatic talks. Najib Mikati, the prime minister, greeted Barrot.
Barrot restated France’s commitment to assisting Lebanon’s armed forces and its support for the country, according to the Lebanese official news agency.
The implementation of UN Security Council resolution 1701, which declared the end of the 2006 Hezbollah-Israel war, was stated by Lebanon’s prime minister as the top priority.
The speaker of the Lebanese parliament, Nabih Berri, and Jean-Noël Barrot met after that.
To support the efforts of regional humanitarian organisations, especially the Lebanese Red Cross, Paris is scheduled to disburse approximately 11 million dollars in emergency humanitarian aid.
