Politicians Vie to be the Next President of the AU.

A number of candidates are running for the position of President of the Commission of the African Union (AU). Among them are former Malagasy foreign minister Richard Randriamandrato, Kenyan former prime minister Raila Amolo Odinga, and Djiboutian diplomat Mahmoud Ali Youssouf. The position is intended for an East African representative. The president, Chadian Moussa Faki Mahamat, is leaving office.
Raila Odinga is one of the candidates that have entered the race to succeed him. The front-runner in the race is the former prime minister of Kenya, who has pledged to address the root causes of instability and give priority to resolving conflicts.
Mahmoud Youssouf, the foreign minister of Djibouti, is vying for the position. Youssouf has promised to strengthen regional security and promote unity across the continent’s linguistic and cultural divides.
Former Malagasy Foreign Minister Richard Randriamandrato is also vying for the job. He has stated his intention to implement policies aiming at full trade liberalisation in order to guarantee inclusive economic growth and has expressed his will to unleash Africa’s economic potential.
