Due to The Migrant Return row, The UK Kimits DRC Visas

The Home Secretary of the United Kingdom declared on Saturday that the DRC will no longer receive expedited visa processing or special treatment for government officials and VIPs. Shabana Mahmoud said that unless Kinshasa increases cooperation, London might deny visas to all Congolese nationals.

Mahmoud declared, “This is just the beginning of the measures I am taking to secure our border and ramp up the removal of those who have no right to be here.” “We anticipate that nations will follow the regulations. They have to remove any citizens who have no right to be here.

The action comes after Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s administration implemented extensive immigration regulations last month in an effort to reduce the number of undocumented immigrants entering the nation.

Temporary asylum status and expedited deportation for undocumented migrants are two of the measures. Every 30 months, asylum claims are examined, and once deemed safe, applicants must return to their home countries. Additionally, asylum seekers will have to wait 20 years instead of the present five years before asking for permanent residency. According to official statistics, more than 100,000 people applied for asylum in the UK in the year ending June 2025, setting a record.
