Growing Health Risks Associated with Unlicensed Sexual Stimulant Usage in West Africa

Products that claim to be 100 natural herbal cures to increase virility are having major negative effects, according to a New York Times article.
Men are experiencing uncontrollable drool, migraines, potentially fatal erections, and an increased risk of heart attacks as a result of these homemade medications.
Ivory Coast public health officials discovered that a substance known as Viagra is included in so-called sexual stimulants, such as the drink Attoté, but at dosages eight times greater than what is advised.
The tablets are produced in India and illegally imported into the nation, where they are crushed and combined with additional ingredients to create a beverage that is marketed locally for $1.50.
Available on Amazon and even Walmart, it costs $15 in France and $20 in the US. The ingredients are not specified on the bottle, but it is touted as “100 percent natural.”
According to the UN, sexual stimulants like Attoté are the most commonly reported narcotics in West Africa, where up to half of the substances are unregulated and cause an estimated half a million deaths annually.
