A Family-run Samosa Shop in London Prepares for the Holiday Season
‘Big Mum’s Samosas,’ a London-based company, is flooded with orders throughout the holiday season.
Since its 2020 launch during the COVID-19 pandemic, the business has expanded to provide handcrafted samosas throughout the United Kingdom. According to co-founder Sushma Rani Makol, staff members are especially busy around holidays like Christmas.
“We have long prepared samosas for family get-togethers, neighbourhood events, and kid’s birthday celebrations. They would like us, whoever used to visit here. Because my pastry is so thin, they adore my samosa. They adore my samosa because of the pastry. Because the pastry is handmade,” Makol explains.
Employees claim that the company’s success can be attributed to the fact that the pastry used to make the samosas is produced by hand. Co-founder Esha Abhol is unsurprised that the company has become popular on social media since its introduction.
We were aware of the product’s quality. The feedback and support we received during lockdown and today have been so overwhelming that we know this product works. We launched Big Mum’s Samosas because we knew our local community enjoyed it, but we wanted to add a modern touch and make it extra enjoyable. “We are aware that this pastry is unique,” Abhol states.
