Unexploded Bombs in the central Gaza Strip are a Hazard to Palestinians
Unexploded missiles are strewn around crowded streets and camps, which has Palestinians who have been displaced in Gaza concerned for their safety. Concerningly, the agencies assigned to remove the ordnances have not responded at all, according to residents in the central town of Deir al-Balah.
Many are compelled to live close to the missiles as the so-called secure zones around the Gaza Strip shrink. An unexploded Israeli bomb that was dropped in January is located next to the Rawafed Shelter Centre in Deir al-Balah, which is home to numerous families who were uprooted from Gaza City.
Because of the high population density and large number of youngsters in this area, we have called everyone to request that the missile be removed,” Ahmed Abu Jarad stated.
The continuing Israel-Hamas conflict has left 7,500 tonnes of unexploded ordnance strewn around the Gaza Strip, according to a previous assessment by the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS). The report also said that it will take approximately 14 years to clear the explosives.UNMAS uses social media to spread awareness about the risks posed by explosives and texts Gaza Strip Palestinians about the same.
