Numerous Dignitaries Attend The Final Service For The Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
Several dozen Iranian world leaders attended the state funeral for Iran’s late president, foreign minister, and other officials. Tehran hosted the memorial service on Wednesday.
Prominent figures from the Middle East and beyond encompassed Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani of Iraq, Kais Saied of Tunisia, and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar.
The event took place just hours after hundreds of thousands of people participated in the funeral procession for Ebrahim Raisi and other victims of the accident on Sunday in the Iranian capital, which included Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
The crash deaths on Sunday occur during a politically delicate time for Iran, both domestically and internationally. The 63-year-old Raisi had been mentioned as a potential replacement for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s 85-year-old supreme leader.
His remains will be buried in the northeastern city of Mashhad, where he was born. Iran has scheduled its next presidential election for June 28 in the wake of the fatal helicopter crash. Middle Eastern leaders such as Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, Kais Saied of Tunisia, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani of Iraq, and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar were at the conference.
