China And the US Agree on a “Framework” to End their Trade Spat

According to a senior Chinese official on Tuesday, the United States and China established an understanding in principle on a framework for implementing the agreements made during the Geneva discussions and the June 5 phone conference between the two nations’ heads of state.
The remark was delivered during the inaugural China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism conference in London, which was attended by Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Li Chenggang, who is also China’s foreign trade representative. The U.S. and Chinese teams have extensively discussed over the past few days. We have communicated comprehensively, logically, professionally, and openly.
Li said he hoped the developments in London would foster a stronger sense of trust between the two countries and encourage the stable and sound growth of their trade and economic relations.
The framework agreed upon in principle and the results of the discussions at the meeting will be brought back and reported to our respective leaders by the two parties. We expect that the progress we made at this London conference will help to strengthen the trust between the United States and China, advance the steady and sound growth of trade and economic ties between the two countries, and stimulate global economic growth,” he added.
