A Colorado Man Who Started A Fire That Killed A Family Of Five Senegalese People Is Sentenced To 60 Years In Prison

A Colorado man was sentenced to 60 years in jail on Tuesday for starting a home fire that claimed the lives of five members of an extended Senegalese family, leaving a deep mark on the relatives and friends of the deceased.

The relative of the victims of Amadou Beye did not mask his displeasure with the sentence, saying, “That’s not enough.” And I’ll think about that all the time. You’re going to cause me pain once more every time I consider giving sixty years to someone who killed five people. However, because I am powerless to stop it, I’ll just… Insha’Allah, God will provide us justice eventually. However, I don’t appreciate the justice, and this isn’t justice. However, I will honor it,” he remarked.

The final of the three teenagers charged in the Aug. 5, 2020 fire, Kevin Bui, who is now 20 years old, was sentenced after entering a plea agreement and admitting guilt to less crimes. According to officials, Bui, who had been robbed while trying to buy a gun, mistakenly thought he had found his stolen iPhone at the house and had carefully plotted his retaliation. But he didn’t double-check that he was targeting the right person.
