South Africa: The Biggest Aerospace and Defense Show on the Continent Comes to an End
Aviation professionals, businesses, and fans attended the 12th edition of Africa’s largest aerospace and military exhibition and air show, which concluded on Sunday, September 22, in South Africa.
Hundreds of people defied the cold to witness the newest in aviation technology, get up close and personal with planes, and take in some amazing shows.
Spot the robotic dog is a common feature at tech events. Deep Tech Solutions, a Cape Town-based business, proposed an unconventional application for the robot.
Talking about technology and man’s best friend, we’re working with Boston Dynamics’ robot dog Spot to assist people perform sophisticated remote inspections. If you think about search and rescue efforts, which we see a lot in the mining sector, but also in kind of disaster management types, where the Army also gets involved heavily, we need to be able to identify what risks are available in the area, but also be able to sometimes actually give some comfort to some of the victims that there is help coming,” explains Rethabile Letlala, a Deep Tech Solutions representative.
There were also displays of next-generation weapons.
