Zimbabwean Businessman Laid to Rest after Dying in a Helicopter Crash

When the caskets bearing the corpses of businessman Wicknell Chivayo and his wife arrived, Zimbabwean army men saluted. A week ago, the couple and four other persons perished in a helicopter crash. Chivayo was praised as a hard-working businessman at his funeral outside Harare on Thursday. In his final years, he travelled the continent with his aspirations, meeting with regional heads of state to discuss infrastructure and renewable energy projects that included Kenya, Tanzania, and Eswathini. Sir Wicknell was giving.

Charles Tawengwa, the minister for Harare Province, stated, “He was a philanthropist par excellence; he gave across every sector of the economy and to people of every profession.” Chivayo’s influence extended outside of Zimbabwe, despite his close ties to the country’s governing class. He was seen interacting with leaders in Kenya, Uganda, and Eswatini on social media.

He was commended for his generosity in Zimbabwe, but his strong connections to the ruling party there also sparked suspicion. The 43-year-old was well-known for donating expensive cars and large sums of money to supporters at well-publicized events. His opulent lifestyle and generous gifts stood in stark contrast to the financial struggles faced by many Zimbabweans.
