Turkey and Egypt Denounce Israel’s Decision to Occupy Gaza City

The two foreign ministers agreed at their Saturday bilateral meeting in Egypt. The Israeli strategy to eventually take over the whole Gaza Strip was referred to as a “inadmissible plan” by Egypt’s foreign minister, Badr Abdelatty.
Hakan Fidan, his Turkish equivalent, used similar language: “We must have an open conversation about this. To “de-Palestinize” Gaza is Israel’s goal. In order to establish its own permanent settlers, Israel aims to make [Gaza] a place where Palestinians do not reside.
In an interview with Fox News on Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel would allegedly attempt to seize control of the entire Gaza Strip, against which it has been fighting a bloody war for nearly two years, beginning with a phase in which it would seize control of Gaza City.
According to reports, the Israeli Security Cabinet authorized such a measure on Friday. However, it did not specifically state whether it would amount to a full-scale occupation of the region. Ankara also appealed for cooperation among all Muslim countries over the Israeli attack in Gaza during the bilateral meeting in Egypt.
