The ‘Humanitarian Metropolis’ that Israel is Planning for Southern Gaza is Rejected by Egyptians

Israel’s proposal to build a so-called “humanitarian city” on the remains of Rafah in southern Gaza has drawn harsh criticism from Cairo, which warns that it could lead to a mass migration toward Egypt’s border and further destabilize the area. Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty sharply rejected the plan during a phone conversation with US Middle East Envoy Steven Witkoff last week.
According to reports, Israel intends to establish a gated camp known as the “humanitarian city” to house the first 600,000 Palestinians who have been displaced from northern Gaza. The Israeli proposal calls for a permanent ban on Gazans leaving their houses once they are inside.
Egypt’s stance has been the same since the start of the Palestinian crisis, and the Arab view is united. “There is no displacement, no teasing of the Palestinian issue, no evacuating the land, and no displacement in any form or form,” Egyptian citizen Ahmed Hassan stated. “Our opinion, the opinion of the Egyptian people, and the political leadership in Egypt are all consistent in this regard.”
Others concurred, stating that Israel had no authority to drive Palestinians from their homeland. They own this country. They can’t just up and go away. Another citizen, Karam Al-Abassi, stated, “No one in their position would leave their house or accept that someone else pushes them out of it.
