The GCC Summit and Bar Abdelatty’s Unwavering Position on Palestinian Issues

Foreign ministers from the six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations convened in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday to discuss the current circumstances in Gaza and Syria.

In addition to their conversations, they also held meetings with colleagues from Egypt, Syria, Jordan, and Morocco, discussing regional and global developments and concentrating on enhancing strategic partnerships and collaboration in a range of fields. GCC Secretary General Jassim Al-Budaiwi emphasized the results of the most recent exceptional Arab meeting in Cairo.

According to him, the summit approved a comprehensive plan for Gaza’s early development, reconstruction, and recovery and the deployment of international peacekeeping and protection forces in line with UN Security Council resolutions of Palestinian territories in the West Bank and Gaza.

The Syrian foreign minister, Asaad Al-Shaibani, said in a separate meeting that a new government with a wide range of political views would soon be formed. He called on Arab countries to contribute financially to rebuild Syria’s destroyed institutions and cities. Additionally, al-Shaibani voiced his worries regarding Israeli military operations in the south, saying that these incursions threaten regional stability as well as stability in Syria.
