Syria claims that after Losing Important cities, Foreign-backed Rebels
The military minister of Syria has pledged to retake lost territory and describes the government forces’ departure from the major city of Hama as a tactical move.
In a broadcast remarks late Thursday, Gen. Ali Mahmoud Abbas warned that both regional and foreign nations support militants, whom he referred to as “takfiri” or Muslim fanatics.
He did not identify the nations, but it seemed that he was referring to the US and Turkey, two major supporters of the opposition.
“We are currently engaged in a tough and continuous conflict with the most potent terrorist groups that employ the gang technique. This compels our military to employ the proper techniques,” Abbas stated.
I certify that today’s events in Hama are merely a short-term tactical move. Our forces remain near Hama city and are ready to fulfill their constitutional and national obligations,” he declared.
Days after rebels took control of a huge portion of Aleppo, the nation’s largest city, Syrian President Bashar Assad suffered yet another serious setback as terrorists moved into Hama earlier on Thursday. The third-largest city in the country, Homs, was the target of the militants’ remarkable weeklong attack, which seemed certain to continue.
