South Africa: 45 People Murdered in Bus Catastrophe; 8-Year-old Girl is the Only Survivor

According to police, 45 individuals lost their lives in South Africa after the bus they were riding in fell around 50 meters (165 feet) off a bridge and into a valley.
The lone survivor, an eight-year-old girl, was brought to the hospital with critical injuries.
In the province of northeastern Limpopo, the bus broke through a barrier and caught fire when it struck the earth.
The passengers were pilgrims traveling from Gaborone, the capital of Botswana, to Moria for an Easter ceremony.
According to South African public broadcaster SABC, the car lost control. It crashed off a bridge on the Mmamatlakala mountain pass between Mokopane and Marken, around 300 kilometers (190 miles) north of Johannesburg.
After visiting the event scene, Sindisiwe Chikunga, the transportation minister, sent her “heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the tragic bus crash.”
She declared that the government of South Africa would assist with the corpses’ return and conduct a thorough investigation into the crash’s cause.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time,” she said. “We continue to urge responsible driving at all times with heightened alertness as more people are on our roads this Easter weekend.”
