Six People are Killed in an Air Ambulance Disaster Close to Kenya’s Capital

According to the owner of the aircraft, an air ambulance service provider’s jet crashed Thursday into a residential neighborhood just outside the Kenyan capital. The mid-size aircraft, a Cessna Citation XLS, was traveling to Somaliland from an airfield in Nairobi when it crashed, according to AMREF Flying Doctors.
In a statement, the service provider stated that it was “cooperating fully with relevant aviation authorities and emergency response teams to establish the facts surrounding the situation,” although it did not specify the number of victims or the potential reason. It stated that further details will be given later.
Rescue crews from the Kenya Red Cross said they were on their way to the crash site in Kiambu, a county that borders Nairobi. The Kenya Red Cross had previously said that a helicopter was the type of aircraft that had crashed. The collision triggered “a swift response from authorities,” according to the local Star newspaper. According to the article, police and military officers “quickly arrived at the scene and secured the area.” Officials from the Kenyan government did not immediately give any information.
