Attacks by the Paramilitary RSF Cut out Electricity in Port Sudan.

According to the BBC, a major power plant in Port Sudan was struck by drones on Tuesday, resulting in “a complete power outage” in the city in eastern Sudan. Following their first attacks on the city this past weekend, the paramilitary RSF is intensifying its operations on Port Sudan, which is why the barrage took place.

Early on Tuesday, the RSF launched drones against additional vital targets. Flights were cancelled after one drone struck the city’s international airport’s civilian area. A third drone targeted a gasoline storage close to the port, while a third struck an army station in the city centre.

According to witnesses, the strike also struck a hotel near army leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan’s home. No casualties were recorded.

Khalid Aleiser, Sudan’s minister of information, went to the port’s southern section, where gasoline tanks were allegedly struck. He criticised the United Arab Emirates for arming the RSF. The UAE denounced the assaults and denied the charge. For the third consecutive day, the RSF is aiming for Port Sudan. The two-year conflict in Sudan had hitherto spared the city.
