Relations Between Egypt and Vietnam Are Strengthened into a Full Collaboration

After 60 years of diplomatic relations, Vietnamese President Lương Cường and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi officially elevated their bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Partnership on August 5, 2025, marking the beginning of a new era of collaboration.
In areas including as trade, investment, education, science and technology, green transition, digital transformation, military, and cultural interaction, both presidents underlined their dedication to strengthening political trust and putting innovative policies into place.
They approved increased collaboration in the fields of education, tourism, local development, fintech, and halal sectors and decided to form a working group to investigate a possible Vietnam–Egypt Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
While Egypt, which is situated at the intersection of Africa, Asia, and Europe, promised to act as a gateway for Vietnamese companies operating in the Middle East and Africa, Vietnam would open its market to a limited number of Egyptian products. Vietnam aims to access ASEAN markets by establishing itself as a strategic partner in the meantime.
With a significant trade surplus, Vietnam’s bilateral trade reached US$541.4 million in 2024, the most considerable amount in North Africa. Additionally, Vietnam and Egypt have correspondent financial relationships, and Vietnamese businesses invest locally.
