President Erdogan Welcomed General Tchiani of Niger During his Official Visit to Turkey
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed General Abdourahamane Tchiani of Niger at the presidential palace in Ankara on the second day of his state visit. Before having a joint press conference, they debated the state of bilateral relations as well as topics pertaining to the area.
Erdogan reaffirmed his dedication to fostering closer ties across Africa on the basis of equitable partnerships and mutual respect for one another. There are significant historical ties between us and Niger, which makes it one of the most fraternal and friendly countries in Africa. The contributions that Mr. Tchiani has made have allowed our relations with this strategically significant region, which date back to the 1400s, to continue to expand day by day.
In addition, the two presidents signed other agreements for collaboration, such as those pertaining to higher education and the creation of a Joint Economic and Trade Commission. Since seizing office in a military coup in 2023, Tchiani has never made a state visit outside of Africa.
