Over 46,000 People Have Died in Gaza as the Violence Continues Unchecked
Even as truce negotiations between Israel and Hamas continue, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip continue to lose family members. Fatma Abu Awad lost six family members tragically on Tuesday as a result of two Israeli bombings that happened only fifteen minutes apart. “We have been waiting for news of a truce every day, but it never comes,” Fatima said, expressing her desperation. Rather, I got updates about my grandchildren, daughter-in-law, and sons. There were six fatalities. How long is this battle going to last? How long will there be bombings? How long will it take to murder Muslims? It appears that nobody cares that we have surpassed 46,000 martyrs.
The mother of a slain Israeli hostage, Rachel Goldberg-Polin “We implore all world leaders to engage in negotiations and bring the 99 hostages back home,” said Hersh Goldberg-Polin. They represent Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists and are from 23 different countries.
As the war in Gaza continues, many families continue to worry about the safety of their loved ones. About one-third of the 100 captives who are still alive are thought to have perished, according to Israel, however estimates put the number as high as half. In Gaza, the army has liberated eight hostages and recovered the dead of about three dozen more.
