Kenya Airways Objects to the DRC’s staff Members’ Arrest and Incarceration.
Kenya Airways (KQ) has claimed that the army of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has detained two of its employees while disobeying a court’s ruling to release them.
The employees were reportedly detained last Friday by the military intelligence unit of the Democratic Republic of the Congo for not having the appropriate customs documentation for expensive shipment The military held KQ until Tuesday, despite their statement that they didn’t accept the package because of insufficient paperwork.
Even though a judge on Thursday granted their parole pending further investigations, the military intelligence organization continues to hold them incommunicado. Additionally, KQ stated that their phones were taken away while they were being held. Authorities in the DR Congo have not yet made a statement, and it is still unknown what is inside the package.
According to Kenya Airways (KQ), the army of the Democratic Republic of the Congo is holding two of its employees against the will of a court, which has ordered their release.
DR Congo’s military intelligence section detained the workers last Friday on suspicion of not having the appropriate customs paperwork for expensive cargo, according to accounts.The military held KQ until Tuesday, even though they explained that they didn’t accept the cargo because of unfinished documentation.
They remain in detention without contact from the military intelligence unit, despite a court’s order on Thursday to release them pending further inquiry.
Their phones were seized during the arrest, according to KQ as well. Authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo have not yet made a statement, and it is still unknown what is within the cargo.
