Following The Killing Of Missionaries In Haiti, The United States Has Called For An Immediate Deployment Of Police

Following the murder of three missionaries working with a US group in the violent Caribbean country, US President Joe Biden’s administration has called for the immediate deployment of a Kenyan-led security force to Haiti.
The appeal on Friday came shortly after the non-profit Missions in Haiti Inc announced that three of its missionaries had been killed by armed gunmen in the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, on Thursday night.
The deaths are the latest in months of escalating violence in Port-au-Prince, which is still largely controlled by powerful armed groups that have launched a wave of deadly attacks across the city.
They also arrived as Kenyan President William Ruto concluded a visit to Washington, DC, where he met with Biden and other senior US officials to discuss various issues, including the long-stalled Haiti deployment.
“The security situation in Haiti cannot wait,” a National Security Council spokesperson said on Friday, adding that Biden promised to support the “expedited deployment” of the Kenya-led force during talks with Ruto on Thursday.
