During the Presidential Debate, Harris Puts Trump on the Defensive
Who prevailed in the first and probably last debate between US presidential contenders Donald Trump and Kamala Harris is still up for dispute.
The Philadelphia gathering on Tuesday provided Americans with their closest-up view of a campaign that has undergone significant alterations since the June debate.
The candidates’ muted microphones helped to minimize interruptions throughout the proceedings, which were moderately smooth despite an uncomfortable handshake at the start, hosted by the ABC network.
Moderators questioned the two about their views on foreign policy, the state of the economy, abortion, climate change, and the ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hamas and Russia and Ukraine.
While Trump frequently shifted his statements to immigration and supported conspiracy theories, Harris concentrated her initial remarks on the economy.
A heated debate arose between the two candidates about abortion, with Harris claiming that women are “bleeding out” in parking lots and Trump dodging a question regarding a potential national prohibition on the procedure.
False and misleading remarks abound in the back and forth at the National Constitution Center, including one that made an unfounded assertion on Haitian immigrants and the growth of jobs.
Before the contest, both contenders had a lot on the line.
