China Is Attempting To Strengthen Ties With Africa As The China-africa Summit Draws Closer
Ahead of the next China-Africa meeting in Beijing next month, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong declared on Friday that this is “the right time” to strengthen ties between China and Africa.
At a news conference on Friday, Chen stated that China and Africa ought to make use of the gathering to speak up for the Global South during the reform of global governance by projecting a “strong voice.”
The globe has entered a phase of turmoil and revolution, and a once-in-a-century change is currently advancing, according to Chen.
He continued, “Africa is going through a new awakening by actively promoting the process of unity, self-improvement, and integration. China and African countries are both significant members of the Global South.”
China’s foreign ministry said on Friday that Chinese President Xi Jinping will be present at the start of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) 2024 Summit on September 5.
Chen stated that during Xi’s keynote address, he will reveal a fresh aid package for Africa.
The three-day summit, which is the fourth to be conducted since 2006, will be attended by representatives of 53 FOCAC member countries in Africa.
China is Africa’s biggest economic partner and a major source of investment, making it a vital participant in the continent.
