BRDC Calls for Transparency over 30,000 Tonnes of Russian Diesel
Transparency in the handling of the purported 30,000 tonnes of diesel that Russia supplied to the Central African Republic (CAR) is demanded by the Republican Bloc for the Defence of the Constitution (BRDC).
Given that the payment was made months ago, even before the national budget was approved, Martin Ziguélé, president of the MLPC and BRDC spokesperson, wonders why it is not included.
Given that SOCAPS is unable to store such a huge volume, he proposes that the fuel might be sold in Cameroon. To offset cash flow needs, the BRDC is certain that the earnings from the sale of this Russian donation be included in the State’s financial operations table.
Ziguélé highlights that to run its affairs, the Central African government must take on high-interest loans. The BRDC claims that there is a lack of openness in the way this purported Russian donation has been handled.
Ziguélé notes that he, as a member of the finance committee, has not received any formal information on the donation and that it was only brought up when President Putin brought it up during President Touadéra’s most recent visit to Moscow.
According to knowledgeable sources, this purported Russian donation is a component of a larger, more intricate plan. According to reports, the Central African government is using a Cameroonian shell business to sell Russian fuel in the CAR at costs much higher than the going rate.
