Anti-doping Organization Says It Cannot Ensure A Clean Olympics

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has refuted claims that it may have covered up the allegations made against 23 swimmers from China once more.

They were permitted to compete despite testing positive for a prohibited drug at a national swim event in China prior to the Tokyo Games in 2021.

The claims have caused the rest of the globe to express severe worries about the effectiveness of anti-doping initiatives in a sport that has seen its fair share of scandals over the years.

The swimmers were exonerated after a Chinese inquiry found that the medication had accidentally contaminated them.

The case is “very politicised,” according to WADA President Witold Banka, who made this statement on Thursday during a press conference in Paris.

“When you see certain remarks, unfair criticism, and accusations regarding whether there was a cover-up or some violations from our side, it’s evident,” the speaker stated.

“Giving the stamp of credibility to every single athlete” is not the agency’s job, Banka continued.

“It’s clear that doping in sports will never be completely eradicated. Someone who wants to cheat would always exist, he claimed.

“We don’t want to tell you that every athlete is clean right now. We’re not sure. In really, that is not our responsibility.
