Amid Tensions, Kenya Reiterates its Support for peace Attempts in Sudan

Following charges from Khartoum that Nairobi had violated its sovereignty by holding a conference for Sudan’s paramilitary force, the Rapid Support Force (RSF), Kenya declared on Wednesday that it was eager to support peace measures in Sudan.
Sudan referred to Tuesday’s meeting as a “act of hostility,” denouncing Kenya for the move, particularly as it coincided with the RSF’s announcement of a parallel administration.
While leading a Sudanese delegation to the Kenyatta International Conference Centre in Nairobi, RSF Deputy Commander Abdel-Rahim Hamdan Dagalo hinted that a significant statement will be made on Friday.
Kenya’s foreign ministry responded by stressing its involvement in providing shelter to a large number of Sudanese refugees and its dedication to promoting communication “without any ulterior motives.”
Kenya may be isolated internationally, according to Kisemei Mutisya, a lecturer at Riara International University. According to him, the nation is seen as supporting a rebel group that opposes Khartoum’s “legitimate” government.
Any attempt to undermine or meddle with it in an undiplomatic manner, as Kenya appears to be doing, might provide Sudan with grounds to bring the case before the International Court of Justice,” he said.
