A Suspect in The Paris Shooting was Sent to a Police Mental Health Facility

French authorities announced on Sunday that the suspect in last week’s horrific shooting in the Paris suburbs had been moved to a mental health facility. According to reports, Kevin T a 39-year-old male, has schizophrenia.

A car passed through the communities of Trappes and La Verriere west of the French capital, killing one person and injuring five. A 12-year-old girl was among those injured; she was hit by eight bullets and is still in critical condition.

With a machine gun and tear-gas grenades in his vehicle, the man was taken into custody on Friday. Following what President Macron called a “racist terrorist attack,” four members of Kevin T.’s family and acquaintances were also taken into custody because the majority of the victims were foreigners.

During a check of his residence, investigators discovered a copy of Adolf Hitler’s “Mein Kampf,” a Bible, and the Koran, according to a previous police source. In honour of Pengo Bossio Wangi, a 26-year-old French national of Congolese descent who was killed in the attack, there were marches on Sunday in Trappes and neighbouring Auvillers. More protests are scheduled for Monday in a number of American cities.

The marches are in solidarity of the attack victims “and to denounce the trivialisation of racist hatred,” according to rights organisations.According to Dominique Sopo, president of SOS Racism, racism is not a small story. “When there is racist act, that should lead to a mobilisation of society.” The man’s family’s attorney, Yassine Bouzrou, expressed shock at the official detention’s termination, calling it “very rare.
