A Pregnant Lady Was Medically Evacuated in the Mediterranean Sea Following the Rescue of a Migrant Boat
On Monday, a pregnant lady who had gone into labor soon after being saved from a migrant boat in the Mediterranean Sea was flown to Italy. On Monday morning, rescuers from the German nonprofit Sea-Watch discovered the 67-person boat in trouble in the Central Mediterranean.
Before escorting everyone to Sea-Watch 5, the organization’s rescue vessel, life jackets were distributed. Rescuers quickly discovered that the pregnant lady had uncommon difficulties that needed to be treated on land in order for both the mother and the unborn child to live.
“For hours, Malta and Italy purposefully endangered the lives of a pregnant mother and her unborn child. Giulia Messmer, a spokesman for Sea-Watch, described this as a political chess game involving human lives. We demand safe passages so that no one has to risk giving birth to their child in the middle of the Mediterranean.”
Six additional individuals in peril at sea had been saved by the Sea-Watch 5 team the previous evening. They were in the sea after falling overboard. They were all taken on board the organization’s rescue vessel. With seventy-two individuals on board, Sea-Watch 5 is now its route to the port of Salerno in Southern Italy.
