A New Mobile Court in South Sudan Aids in Investigating Offenders

Crimes are common in the Pibor region of South Sudan. However, the United Nations mission in the nation is supporting a new mobile court that is assisting in the battle against this issue. The history and rich cultural traditions of Greater Pibor are abundant. Through customary dress, rituals, and spiritual traditions that unite them, the communities celebrate who they are.
To counteract this past impunity, a new mobile court has been sent to Pibor with support from the South Sudan Reconciliation, Stabilization, Resilience Trust Fund and the United Nations Mission in South Sudan. Five criminals were found guilty after the court decided 16 intricate criminal matters over the course of four weeks.
This year’s second deployment of a mobile court to the Greater Pibor Administrative Area has resulted in 61 cases handled overall, comprising 24 civil and 37 criminal cases. More victims come forward when justice is delivered, and it also keeps people from taking the law into their own hands in an effort to hold criminals accountable.
