During the Visit of the French Prime Minister to Morocco, Paris and Rabat Signed Fourteen Accords
During Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu’s two-day visit to Rabat on Thursday, 14 cooperation agreements were signed between France and Morocco. Together with his Moroccan counterpart Aziz Akhannouch, he co-chaired the 15th Morocco-France High-Level Meeting.
The accords strengthened the two nations’ strategic alliances by addressing issues like the economy, security, migration, and defense. They also included a loan agreement on water policy and agreements with the French Development Agency on the Rabat Regional Express Rail project.
Among the agreements agreed was a draft framework agreement on scientific cooperation. According to Lecornu, the goal of France’s visa policy is to make it easier for people who are the main drivers of the relationship between the two nations, such as students and businesspeople.
His visit is an indication that France is working more to mend relations with Morocco following years of hostilities. When France acknowledged Morocco’s claim to the disputed Western Sahara territory in 2024, the two nations reestablished diplomatic ties.
