A Vehicle Bomb in Southern Moscow Killed a Russian General

On Monday morning, a bomb went off under the automobile of a Russian commander, killing him. According to local investigators, the strike might have been carried out by Ukraine. A automobile exploded in a southern Moscow parking lot at around seven in the morning, according to Russian media.

Svetlana Petrenko, a spokesman for Russia’s Investigative Committee, stated on Monday, “We have opened a criminal case in connection with a car bombing in Moscow that killed Lt. Gen. Fanil Sarvarov, the head of the Operational Training Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces’ General Staff.

Sarvarov participated in Moscow’s military campaign in Syria and battled in Chechnya, according to Russia’s Defense Ministry. Numerous lines of inquiry are being pursued by investigators in relation to the murder. One of these is that Ukrainian intelligence agencies planned the crime, according to Petrenko.

A similar attack on a senior Russian soldier in December of last year was attributed to Ukraine. Another high-ranking Russian military official was killed in a car explosion outside his Moscow apartment in April. The Kremlin has attributed other explosions and attacks throughout Russia to Ukraine.
