Tunisia Defeats Namibia 3-0 to Complete their World Cup Qualifying

Tunisia defeated Namibia 3-0 at home on Monday to wrap up their African qualifying run and guarantee their place in the 2026 World Cup. Hannibal Mejbri and Ferjani Sassi gave the home team more goals in the second half, while Ali Abdi scored a penalty kick in the 28th minute.

With 28 points from 10 games, Tunisia became victorious in Group H. It ended 13 points ahead of Namibia, who came in second. The World Cup is automatically open to the nine group winners. In November, the top four runners-up compete in a mini-tournament consisting of two semifinals and a final.

The victor takes on opponents from Asia, CONCACAF, South America, and Oceania in FIFA’s playoff event. Equatorial Guinea and Liberia drew 1-1 at home in other Group H games, while Sao Tome and Principe, in last place, defeated Malawi 1-0 for their first group victory. Ghana, a 2010 quarterfinalist, joined Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, and Morocco as the fifth African country to earn a spot in the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico next year.
