According to the Sudanese Army, Mercenaries From Colombia and Ukraine were Slain in Darfur

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are battling with the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in the besieged Darfur city of El Fasher, and the SAF claims to have killed several foreign combatants, including Ukrainians and Colombians.

The deaths happened during a “special operation” at Al-Karama Square, when the foreign fighters tried to seize high-rise residential structures, the army’s 6th Infantry Division said in a statement. Snipers and “drone engineers” were among those slain, according to the SAF. Additionally, according to military intelligence, the foreign mercenaries conducted surveillance and strike missions on army positions using drones manufactured in Ukraine.

One of the few significant Darfuri cities not under RSF authority is El Fasher. The humanitarian situation in and around the city has been worse in recent weeks due to the escalation of the fighting between SAF and RSF. There is still a shortage of help, thousands of people in displacement shelters are reportedly in dire need of food and medicine, and civilians are still stranded.

There is no independent verification for these assertions. The RSF and other nations who are suspected of being engaged have not responded right away. Citing suspected war crimes and violations of humanitarian standards, Sudan’s army is urging the UN Security Council to hold RSF leaders responsible.
