A Ukrainian Man was Detained in Italy for Explosives in The Nord Stream Pipeline

According to police, a Ukrainian man was detained in Italy on Thursday on suspicion of being a coordinator of underwater explosives that caused damage to the Nord Stream gas pipelines between Germany and Russia in 2022.
After Italian authorities were informed of his potential presence in the nation, the 49-year-old was arrested early in the morning in San Clemente, a community 11 kilometers (7 miles) from the resort of Rimini and inland from Italy’s Adriatic coast, according to Italian police.
The guy was spending a few days at a house with his family when officers stormed it. According to the police, he turned himself up without a fight.
German authorities obtained a European arrest warrant on Monday, which led to the man’s detention. Per local privacy regulations, German federal prosecutors only named him Serhii K. After his arrest, he was brought to the Rimini jail. How quickly he might be turned over to German police was not immediately clear.
Pipelines constructed to transport Russian natural gas to Germany beneath the Baltic Sea were damaged by underwater explosions on September 26, 2022.
