Tidjane Thiam Intends to Return as the Leader of the opposition PDCI Party in Ivory Coast

The action follows the forced resignation of Tidjane Thiam, elected president in December 2023, because of his dual nationality.
According to party regulations, its leader must be exclusively Ivorian. However, at the time of his election, Thiam was still a French citizen. The move is intended to circumvent the argument against his eligibility.
We had to be astute, and the PDCI has again been a fantastic gathering. “A party of hope,” Pierre Kouamé, a party member, declared. Yoma Fouka Hervé, another PDCI member present during the vote, called it a “strategic vote.
It’s crucial to respond when the party summons its devoted followers to the political bureau to vote for its different bodies, he added. Thiam is now the sole contender to succeed himself as the leader of the PDCI after formally renunciating his French citizenship in March.
The presidential election, however, is another impending conflict that comes before this powerful return. Koua Geoffrey, a political analyst, stated that the PDCI was relying on “some political optimism. He stated, “It’s probably hoping that a dialogue will start between the government and the opposition, particularly with regard to a possible revision of the electoral roll.
