Ukraine Claims to have Reached an Agreement With the US on Minerals

Ukraine and the United States have reached an agreement on the parameters of a significant minerals transaction, which Kyiv hopes will strengthen ties with the administration of President Donald Trump.
Following the US’s withdrawal of its demand for a $500 billion share of the deal’s potential earnings, Ukraine declared that it was prepared to sign the agreement on the joint development of its mineral resources. Additionally, Kyiv hopes that accepting the deal will guarantee the US military assistance that Ukraine sorely needs.
However, according to media reports, Washington has not provided the nation with concrete security assurances. When the two presidents meet, they will talk about this, according to a Ukrainian official. Trump said he expects Volodymyr Zelensky, his Ukrainian counterpart, to sign the agreement when he visits Washington later this week.
Lithium and titanium are among the essential elements and minerals that are found in reserves in Ukraine. They are required for the manufacturing of consumer electronics, weapons, artificial intelligence infrastructure, and high-tech products.
According to research by the European Commission, Ukraine was a major exporter of titanium prior to the start of the conflict with Russia, accounting for roughly 7% of global production in 2019. Large amounts of uranium, coal, gas, and oil are also found there.
