Due to Sudan’s Civil War, Oil Exports have Caused South Sudan to Become Unstable.

According to experts, violence, and insecurity in South Sudan may increase as a result of damage to a vital oil pipeline that traveled through neighboring Sudan and connected to worldwide markets last month.

The incident occurred early in February in the White Nile state of Sudan, causing the Dar Petroleum Oil Company to halt loadings.

The Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces are at odds over control of the region where the rupture occurred.

Because of the prolonged conflict, a team of technical experts has been unable to fix the pipeline, raising concerns that South Sudan’s political economy may collapse.

Two-thirds or three-quarters of oil money comes from the pipeline. South Sudan’s budget will be severely impacted unless the pipeline is able to be operational once more, according to Alan Boswell, a South Sudan expert for International Crisis Group, a nonprofit organization devoted to resolving conflicts.
