Trump Claims to be Talking to Russia” While the Conflict in Ukraine Rages On

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump discussed the ceasefire negotiations in the Middle East and the Russia-Ukraine peace process. He claimed that his administration would “like him (Russian President Vladimir Putin) to stop” and that they are currently “talking to Russia.”
He went on to say, “It’s a terrible thing that should have never started, would have never started if I were president, 100%.” Trump made a statement regarding ceasefire talks in Gaza, stating that “there are a lot of things going on with the Middle East right now that have to be silenced,” but he did not elaborate.
Trump and Netanyahu will have their second meeting since the start of Trump’s most recent term in January on Monday. Netanyahu stated that they will talk about the conflict and the new 17% tax that the United States placed on Israel as part of a worldwide decision.
Last month, the United States, which is a mediator in ceasefire attempts alongside Egypt and Qatar, had stated that it supported Israel’s decision to resume the conflict.
