The Most Recent Militant Strike In The Eastern Democratic Republic Of The Congo Claimed At Least 41 Lives
The government announced on Monday that at least 41 people had died as a result of an attack on Friday in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) by terrorists and Islamist rebels.
Since the tragedy, young people from Masala village in the eastern region of North Kivu and Red Cross workers have been looking for bodies.
Locals reported that people of the villages of Masala, Keme, and Mahini were attacked by armed men brandishing firearms and machetes.
“We discovered that some of our escaping family members perished in route. A girl and a boy’s bodies are shown here. Maurice Kambale Mulehera, a native of Masala, remarked, “Look how they were killed.”
Although M23 rebel violence has been a problem in the North Kivu area for some months, the army claimed that the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) were responsible for the most recent attacks.
The gang has been in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) for thirty years, and they frequently attack the local population and the Congolese army in the provinces of Ituri and North Kivu.
It has sworn loyalty to the Islamic State.
Following the ADF militants’ horrific rampage through the hamlet, which resulted in numerous deaths and the destruction of homes, the inhabitants of Masala were still in shock.
