Kenya: Police Officers Charged With Breaking Into A Jail Have Been Freed On Bond

Five Kenyan police officers have been placed on personal bail after being detained on suspicion of helping 13 suspects escape.

To finish the investigation, the prosecution had requested that the police officers be detained for 14 days at Milimani Court.

The five men were told to report to the investigating officer twice a week until the investigation was finished, according to local media on Thursday, August 21.

Among the police officers who are suspected of hepping the escapees are the suspects.

On Tuesday, August 19, the press was informed by the acting inspector general of police that eight officers, including the area and station commanders and policemen who were on duty, had been placed under disciplinary action.

Kenyans are especially concerned about the suspected serial killer’s jailbreak.

Jumaisi Khalusha admitted to the murder of forty-two women, including his spouse. then claimed that the police had coerced him into making the confession.

DNA testing led to the identification of six bodies, although several body parts are still unknown.

After a judge gave detectives an additional seven days to look into the man’s alleged crimes before charging him, the suspect was being held at the Girigiri police station.

A financial prize is being offered by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for information on the 33-year-old suspect.
